During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A Chandra photo release was issued on May 28, describing observations of ASKAP J1832. This is the first time that an X-ray signal has been found in a long period radio transient. Using Chandra, the team discovered that ASKAP J1832 is regularly varying in X-rays every 44 minutes, identical to the radio variability. The source also faded in both wavelengths over the course of six months. For details, see: https://chandra.si.edu/press/25_releases/press_052825.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below, and includes an observation of SZ Cha coordinated with HST and JWST, and an observation of 4U 1630-47, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity accepted on Apr 8 and is coordinated with NuStar and NICER. |
