Friday 13 July 2012 9.00am EDT
During the last week the observing schedule was interrupted by a high-radiation event that activated the science instrument safing sequence (SCS 107) and stopped observing at 3:59pm on Jul 12. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on Jul 13 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. Observations of Sgr A* were impacted and will be rescheduled. Planning is underway to attempt a resumption of observing this evening. Of note this week was the "X-ray Binaries - Celebrating 50 Years Since the Discovery of Sco X-1" science workshop being held in Boston, Jul 10-12. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of Sgr A* coordinated with NuSTAR, Keck, VLT, SMA, CSO, CARMA, ALMA, EHT, HESS, and ATCA, an observation of Holmberg IX X-1 coordinated with HST, and an observation of 3C 273 coordinated with NuSTAR. |
