Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 14 June 2013 9.00am EDT

During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate an observation of GRB130606A, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Jun 12. Loads for the replanned schedule are expected to be uplinked Jun 15.

A Chandra press release was issued on Jun 12 as a NASA press release describing observations of the Andromeda galaxy, aka M31. Using over 150 separate Chandra observations spread over 13 years, researchers have found twenty-six black hole candidates in M31. These are stellar-mass black holes, which are formed by the collapse of a giant star and have masses between five and 10 times the Sun's. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/13_releases/press_061213.html

The schedule of targets for the replan and for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GJ 436 coordinated with HST.
